Memories.
To date, this snapper jaw is my only mould made bronze work. It holds memories of a beautiful summer of hiking, fishing, wine and beautiful people. This impressive jaw belongs to a majestic fish caught off the rocks of Great Barrier Island. Snapper use these teeth to crush their Kina snacks. While reaching maturity at 3-4 years of age, snapper can live for more than 60 years and grow up to 105cm!

The sepia tone photo above was captured by the talented Paul Kitchenman.
It provides a rare glimpse of the waxes being sprued in preparation for the bronze casting process. To the right are a cluster of the resulting bronzes made from this delicate and unique mould.
